[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] KEPCO KDN announced on the 28th that it will expand its AI-based solar power generation prediction service, 'KEPCO KDN Haetbitjido,' to a nationwide scale.
KEPCO KDN's Haetbitjido service applies AI deep learning technology based on weather information and fine dust concentration to predict solar power generation in real time. This differs from the traditional method that uses average solar radiation and sunshine duration. Another advantage is that anyone can check the prediction results for free through a smartphone application.
In early April, KEPCO KDN improved the first service provided in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions to allow users to estimate solar power generation and related revenue for selected areas on the map. It offers not only predictions of power generation for operating solar power plants but also real-time comparison with expected generation.
A KEPCO KDN official stated, "By expanding the Haetbitjido service nationwide, many citizens can accurately predict solar power generation, which depends on weather conditions," adding, "We expect it to help stabilize the power grid and assist in selecting optimal solar power generation sites."
