Jinju Korean Medicine Association: "Hanbang Infertility Treatment Can Help Overcome the Low Birthrate Crisis"

According to Statistics Korea data, the total fertility rate in Gyeongnam in 2020 was 0.95, a 9.5% decrease compared to the previous year.
In response, Councilor Jeong Jae-wook emphasized, “As the marriage age and average childbirth age continue to rise, the number of infertile couples is increasing, so support for various types of infertility treatments is necessary.”
Oh In-jun, General Director of the Jinju Association of Korean Medicine Doctors, introduced the efficiency and safety of infertility treatment using Korean medicine as an advantage, saying, “Korean medicine infertility treatment can greatly help overcome the low birthrate crisis.”
Park Soo-sik, President of the Jinju Association of Korean Medicine Doctors, also stated, “Currently, infertile couples face various problems including mental pressure and economic burdens during the treatment process,” and emphasized, “It is necessary to establish a basis for supporting Korean medicine infertility treatment to provide systematic and active support.”
Councilor Jeong Jae-wook said, “The low birthrate issue is complexly intertwined with social factors, making it difficult to find solutions, but at least for couples who want to have children, the government as well as local governments have an obligation to actively support them,” and added, “An environment where patients can effectively cope with infertility through their choice of Western medicine, Korean medicine, or integrative treatment combining both is needed.”
