[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The Maserati ‘New Ghibli Hybrid’ is a model that ushered in the era of electrified mobility for the Maserati brand.
It is praised for successfully transplanting the elegant exterior and distinctive performance of the existing Maserati lineup while adding efficiency as a hybrid model, perfectly fulfilling the role of the brand’s first milestone in electrification.
The New Ghibli Hybrid is equipped with a 2.0ℓ, 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. Combined with a 48V mild hybrid system designed for overall performance improvement, it delivers a maximum output of 330 horsepower and a peak torque of 45.9 kg·m. The top speed is 255 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.7 seconds.
The New Ghibli Hybrid’s certified combined fuel efficiency in Korea is 8.9 km/ℓ. It shows approximately 22% reduced carbon dioxide emissions compared to the ‘Ghibli Gasoline’ model and about 5% lower emissions than the diesel model.
The most noticeable design change in the New Ghibli Hybrid is the boomerang-shaped LED cluster installed in the taillamps.
This distinctive cluster was inspired by the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept car. The new front grille, which strongly conveys the Maserati feel, also draws attention. The front grille maximizes elegance by applying unique Maserati tuning fork-shaped bars.
Since its first appearance, the ‘Ghibli’ has attracted attention by maintaining its unique sophistication and distinctive design while presenting an original dashboard design inspired by an airplane cockpit.
The New Ghibli Hybrid is no exception. The center console neatly arranges the gear shift lever, driving mode buttons, an audio volume key made of cast aluminum, and a rotary control knob, giving a well-organized impression.
