[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) recently conducted an accuser investigation related to the case in which Park Ji-won, the Director of the National Intelligence Service, was accused of being involved in the process of reporting 'accusation solicitation' and was reported along with others.
According to the side of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who is the accuser, the PCC summoned Yoon's legal representative on the 15th and conducted an investigation for about two hours. However, the PCC has not yet filed the case and is still reviewing it.
On the 13th, Yoon's side filed a complaint with the PCC against three individuals: the whistleblower Jo Seong-eun, Park Ji-won who met with Jo before and after the report, and an unidentified person presumed to have been present on the day.
It is also reported that Yoon's side submitted an additional statement to the PCC on the day of the accuser investigation. The statement reportedly contains circumstantial evidence, including the fact that whistleblower Jo Seong-eun captured over 100 Telegram conversations the day before meeting Park Ji-won.
Furthermore, the statement argued that if the PCC had filed the accusation solicitation case against Yoon, it should also investigate the involvement of Park Ji-won, whose collusion circumstances have been sufficiently revealed, for the sake of fairness.
A PCC official stated, "We cannot confirm whether an accuser investigation was conducted," but added, "The case has not been filed."
