[Asia Economy=Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, governor of Gyeonggi Province and a presidential primary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, lamented that the suspicion of a 'commissioned investigation' against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who should actually be held accountable, seems to be fading from the public's attention as the 'perfectly fine' Seongnam Daejang-dong private development project has been turned into a mess.
On the 23rd, Lee said on Facebook, "It was already decided in the 2018 trial that the essence was 'returning to the citizens of Seongnam,' but now it has become a mess solely because of matador (black propaganda)." He criticized, "Conservative media are creating this, the People Power Party is blowing the horn, and even our party's candidates are following suit."
He continued, "If you take a moment to look, you can see the facts related to the Daejang-dong development project," adding, "Due to the People Power Party's aggressive Daejang-dong issue, the suspicion of a commissioned investigation by Yoon Seok-yeol's prosecution is disappearing and being covered up in the media and public discourse, which is very regrettable."
He then suggested, "Although conservative media, construction capital, and the opposition party are misleading public opinion, time is on the side of truth," and "Ahead of the Democratic reform forces' home turf Gwangju-Jeonnam primary this weekend, if our party's candidates respond jointly, it will send a good message to the public and party members who expect unity and solidarity within the (Democratic) party."
Lee also stated, "As time passes, the truth becomes clearer, and moreover, I, Lee Jae-myung, only grow stronger the more I am attacked," adding, "Everything has light and shadow, but thanks to this controversy, it has become easier to pledge 'mandatory public recovery of unearned development gains' as a campaign promise and to explain this to the public."
