Replying to Family Text Messages After the Crime

The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 17th that they had urgently arrested a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on charges of robbery and murder.
Mr. A is suspected of killing his neighbor, a woman in her 60s, Ms. B, at an apartment in Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu, on the afternoon of the 11th, and stealing about 1 million won in cash from her bank account.
After the murder, when contacted by the victim’s family, he reportedly pretended to be Ms. B by replying to text messages using the mobile phone he had taken during the crime.
Mr. A is known to have fully admitted to the charges to the police.
The police requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to investigate the specific cause of Ms. B’s death, and plan to apply for an arrest warrant soon after questioning Mr. A about the details of the crime.
Meanwhile, the police, who responded to a report from the family, found Ms. B dead at her home around 6 p.m. the previous day and have been investigating with a focus on the possibility of homicide.
Subsequently, through neighborhood inquiries and analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV), the suspect was identified and Mr. A was apprehended at his residence.
