[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 6th that it has selected the ‘Kkotdureong Village’ Urban Agriculture Community (Representative Jeon Deok-il) as the first Good Farmer.
The ‘Kkotdureong Village’ Urban Agriculture Community has been practicing weekly sharing by packaging agricultural products grown by about 10 members in the rooftop garden of Jungwhasan 2-dong Community Center.
They have also donated 295 kg of leafy vegetables and 505 kg of fruit and vegetables, accumulating a total of 551,500 mileage points.
Accordingly, Jeonju City presented a certificate to this community on the day and provided five bags of organic fertilizer as a certification benefit.
Additionally, the city selected the ‘(Corporation) Jeonju City Urban Agriculture Research Association’ and the ‘Mulwangmeol Community’ as the second and third Good Farmers, respectively, and plans to continuously increase Good Farmer certifications in the future.
Since May, Jeonju City has been piloting the ‘Good Farmer Mileage System’ targeting local urban agriculture communities and urban garden members.
The Good Farmer Mileage System is a citizen participation program that awards mileage points to citizens who donate agricultural products produced in urban gardens or weekend farms to welfare projects such as Jeonju City’s ‘Food Bank,’ and certifies them as Good Farmers when they accumulate more than 10,000 points.
