[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Volvo Cars Korea announced on the 4th that it will carry out the 'Recharge Campaign' to leap forward as a climate-neutral company.
Volvo Cars Korea explained that this campaign was planned according to an eco-friendly vision to raise awareness of the severity of the climate crisis caused by carbon emissions and plastic waste and to transition into a climate-neutral company by 2040.
According to the Global Carbon Project (GCP), an international scientific consortium, South Korea's annual carbon dioxide emissions in 2019 were 611.26 million tons, ranking 9th in the world. Additionally, the per capita plastic waste generation was 44 kg annually, ranking 3rd globally.
In response, Volvo Cars Korea is conducting various programs through its official social channels and partner collaborations, including a psychological test (Re:Think) to raise awareness of the climate change crisis, eco-friendly safe driving (Re:Duce) to reduce carbon emissions, and eco-friendly activities with pets (Re:Use), to promote awareness and improvement regarding environmental pollution caused by climate change.
First, together with the psychological test site Poomang, a psychological test to raise awareness of the crisis caused by climate change will be conducted from the 6th to the 26th. Among participants who complete the test and share their result images on Instagram with the hashtags #VolvoCars #VolvoSafetyCampaign #VolvoRe_Charge, a draw will be held to award die-cast models (3 people) and Starbucks gifticons (100 people).
Also, from the 17th to the 31st, a joint campaign encouraging eco-friendly driving to reduce carbon emissions will be held in collaboration with T map Mobility. By clicking 'Participate in Volvo Cars Campaign' on the promotion page set up on the main page of the T map application, events & coupons, and Car Live benefits, and driving eco-friendly at least once (minimum 1 km), participants will be automatically entered. A total of 6,000 participants will be selected by lottery to receive Starbucks gift certificates.
Furthermore, from the 23rd to the 27th, the pet shopping mall 'Pet Friends' will provide eco-friendly poop bag packages that allow people to practice environmental protection and plogging activities with their pets in daily life.
Yoon Mo Lee, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, said, "Extreme heat, heavy rain, and heavy snow are questions from the future asking how we should solve this climate crisis." He added, "We ask for active participation in the small daily practices proposed by Volvo Cars to create a better future for our children."
