[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] RF Semi, a semiconductor device specialist company, announced on the 2nd that it will launch Far UVC Light that kills viruses and is harmless to the human body.
The newly launched lighting is a ceiling-mounted Far UVC lamp jointly developed with SWC (Smart Whale Control), a company specializing in sterilization lamps in the United States, applying RF Semi's driving device and downlight design technology.
The 222nm UVC lamp (model name: PD-2012-01-222) uses a downlight-type fixture that anyone can easily install, operates with 20W power for up to 3,000 hours, and is equipped with an electronic timer to adjust the operating time.
Existing ultraviolet UVC lamps used as natural sterilizers have wavelengths of 240nm or higher, and exposure to human eyes and skin can cause side effects such as blindness or skin diseases, so they are used for sterilizing water purifiers or air conditioners.
RF Semi's 222nm Far UVC lamp has a shorter wavelength, providing higher sterilization power, and is harmless to the human body, making it suitable for use in spaces where people reside.
A company official stated, "It can kill viruses but is harmless to the human body, so it can be used not only in residential spaces but also in offices, commercial facilities, hospitals, schools, and other places where people are in close contact," adding, "We will actively pursue the global market as well as the Korean market."
