Galaxy Buds2 to Launch at a Lower Price Than Galaxy Buds Pro

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The release price of Samsung Electronics' wireless earphones 'Galaxy Buds2,' scheduled to be unveiled at next week's Galaxy Unpacked event, is expected to be set lower than the launch price of the 'Galaxy Buds Pro.'

According to IT specialized media GSM Arena on the 1st (local time), the European price of the Galaxy Buds2 is expected to be around 170 euros (approximately 230,000 KRW).

This price is the same as the 'Galaxy Buds Plus,' which Samsung previously released at 170 euros (about 230,000 KRW), and lower than the 'Galaxy Buds Pro,' which was launched at 230 euros (about 310,000 KRW). It is also lower than Apple's 'AirPods Pro.'

The Galaxy Buds2 is expected to be Samsung's third wireless earbud equipped with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) functionality, following the 'Galaxy Buds Live' and 'Galaxy Buds Pro.' The Galaxy Buds2 can be used for up to 20 hours with ANC activated on a single charge, and up to 29 hours when ANC is deactivated. GSM Arena evaluated the price as reasonable considering that ANC is provided in the Galaxy Buds2.

However, with an IPX2 rating applied, it does not offer dust protection. The water resistance rating is also level 2, which can protect the device from light droplets for up to about 10 minutes. The waterproof and dustproof 'IP rating' is distinguished by two numbers that follow. The first digit indicates 'dust protection,' and the second digit indicates the level of 'water resistance.' 'Dust protection' shows how well the device is protected from dust and various foreign substances, while 'water resistance' indicates resistance to water. Dust protection is composed of seven levels from 0 to 6. Level 0 is sometimes marked as 'X,' and water resistance consists of nine levels from 0 to 8.

Additionally, the Galaxy Buds2 is expected to be released in four colors: White, Black, Purple, and Green. The earbud battery has a capacity of 60 milliampere-hours (mAh), and the portable case has a capacity of 500 mAh with 2.5 watts (W) wireless charging capability.

Samsung Electronics will unveil the Galaxy Buds2, along with the next-generation foldable smartphones 'Galaxy Z Fold3' and 'Galaxy Z Flip3,' and the smartwatch 'Galaxy Watch4' series at the Galaxy Unpacked event held online on the 11th.
