Two Tigers at Indonesian Zoo Also Test Positive for COVID-19

On the 1st, Anies Baswedan, the governor of Jakarta, posted on social networking services (SNS) that two Sumatran tigers, Tino (9) and Hari (12), at Ragunan Zoo tested positive for COVID-19, sharing the PCR test results and photos of the tigers. It is reported that Tino and Hari showed symptoms of a cold such as lethargy, sneezing, runny nose, and difficulty breathing three weeks ago, which led to their COVID-19 testing. The tigers are receiving daily treatments including antibiotics, antihistamines, anti-inflammatory drugs, and multivitamins, and are currently recovering.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March last year, the Indonesian government has converted the Asian Games athletes' village into the 'Kramayoran Emergency Hospital' to isolate and treat numerous patients. Since June, Indonesia has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases, with daily confirmed cases fluctuating around 40,000 to 50,000 due to the spread of the Delta variant. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is approximately 3,409,000.
