[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] Former Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Min-hee has come to the defense of the media outlet that reported on the cohabitation rumor involving Kim Gun-hee, wife of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 29th, Choi posted on her Facebook, emphasizing that "the report by Yeollin Gonggam TV should be regarded as a verification report on a presidential candidate."
Regarding the Yoon camp's criticism that the broadcast was aimed solely at political interests and broadcast revenue, she stated, "Yeollin Gonggam TV has also been sued by the Democratic Party presidential candidate side," and added, "I don't even understand what they mean by political interests of the Yoon camp."
She also pointed out, "The media is ignoring Yeollin Gonggam TV's report and instead rushing to cover the Yoon camp's backlash."
Earlier, on the 26th, Yeollin Gonggam TV claimed on their YouTube broadcast that Kim Gun-hee and lawyer Yang were cohabiting before marriage, citing an interview with Yang's 94-year-old mother as evidence.
In response, lawyer Yang released a statement on the 28th along with his mother's dementia diagnosis, asserting, "What role could my 94-year-old mother possibly play in this era to be dragged into such petty black propaganda?" and claimed, "Most of the questions in the broadcast were leading."
Former Prosecutor General Yoon also filed a criminal complaint against Yeollin Gonggam TV CEO Jeong Cheon-su, reporter Kang Jin-gu, assistant host, and camera director, stating, "Starting with this complaint, we will begin full-scale legal action."
