Special Measures Also Activated for Trees in New Urban Areas

Jeonju City Installs Water Bags on Street Trees Weakened by Heatwave Jeonju City is installing water bags on Majung-gil in front of Jeonju Station and the street trees in Jeonju Hanok Village, and is also implementing special measures to prevent the withering of newly planted trees in the new urban area.

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Jeonju City announced on the 27th that it will install water bags to provide sufficient moisture to the trees along Cheotmajung-gil in front of Jeonju Station and the streets of Jeonju Hanok Village.

The city has designated Majung-gil, Hanok Village, and traffic islands as special management zones and plans to install about 2,500 water bags by the 30th.

In addition, Jeonju City will implement special measures to prevent the withering of newly planted trees in the new urban areas.

The target areas include △ newly developed sections such as Girindaero, Palbok-ro, Gyeonhwon-ro, and Beonyeong-ro △ areas such as Hyochon District, Eco City, and Manseong District where trees were recently planted and have not yet grown normally △ about 300 locations including green belts, traffic islands, parks, and green spaces where drought-sensitive species such as azaleas and boxwoods are planted.

Separately, considering the worsening weather conditions, Jeonju City plans to expand the planting of drought-resistant species and improve the growing environment by enhancing soil quality using soil moisture retainers and conditioners.
