Next Month Release 'Galaxy Z Flip3' Charging Speed Set at 15W

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics' next-generation foldable smartphone, the ‘Galaxy Z Flip3,’ set to be unveiled next month, is expected to have a charging speed of 15 watts (W).

On the 23rd (local time), IT specialist media PhoneArena reported, citing IT tipster Ice Universe, that the maximum charging speed of the Galaxy Z Flip3 is 15W.

According to Ice Universe, the charging speed of the Galaxy Z Flip3 will be the same 15W as the ‘Galaxy Z Flip 5G,’ and the battery capacity will remain at 3300 milliampere-hours (mAh). While the 15W charging speed is sufficient for everyday use, it is somewhat slower compared to the ‘Galaxy Z Fold3,’ which is known to support 25W charging, and Apple’s ‘iPhone 13.’ It is also noticeably slower compared to smartphones from Chinese manufacturers. Currently, China’s ‘Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra’ and ‘OnePlus 9 Pro’ take less than 40 minutes to fully charge.

Meanwhile, there are also expectations that Samsung Electronics’ next-generation flagship smartphone series, the ‘Galaxy S22,’ expected to launch next year, may feature 65W fast charging. Earlier, IT tipster FrontTron reported that Samsung is conducting tests related to applying 65W charging to the Galaxy S22.

Samsung Electronics has applied 25W charging to its flagship models, including the Galaxy S21 series. Although 45W fast charging was introduced with the ‘Galaxy S20 Ultra’ and ‘Galaxy Note10 Plus,’ the actual charging speed did not differ significantly when using a 25W adapter.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is expected to have a similar size to its predecessor but will show some design differences. The rear camera and flash will be arranged in a line, and it will be offered in two models: LTE and 5G. The colors will consist of a total of eight options: Light Violet, Black, Gray, Dark Green, Beige, Pink, Dark Blue, and White. It will feature 8GB of RAM and is expected to be released in two internal memory models: 128GB and 256GB. The mobile application processor (AP) is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event, held online on the 11th of next month, in addition to the Galaxy Z Flip3, the Galaxy Z Fold3, the smartwatch ‘Galaxy Watch4’ series, and the wireless earphones ‘Galaxy Buds2’ are also scheduled to be unveiled.
