Kim Du-gwan: "Lee Jae-myung and Lee Nak-yeon arguing over 'Roh Moo-hyun's legitimate successor,' is this a dynasty era?... They should stop impeachment controversy"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Du-kwan, a presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out that the heated 'Roh Moo-hyun impeachment' controversy in the party primary should "stop now."

On the 23rd, Kim stated on Facebook, "The fight between the first and second place over the impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun is escalating," expressing this view.

Known as the 'Little Roh Moo-hyun,' Kim criticized both Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung and former party leader Lee Nak-yeon, saying, "The 'Roh Moo-hyun' that the two are discussing is based on their own interests and lacks sincerity."

He began by saying, "Lee Jae-myung, who fired a direct shot at Lee Nak-yeon by asking, 'Are you in favor of impeachment?' is not in a position to say such things."

Kim said, "In the 2006 Gyeongnam gubernatorial election, I delivered a direct blow to Jeong Dong-young, who wanted to abandon the 'Uri Party' and return to the Democratic Party," adding, "Jeong Dong-young's proposal to return to the Democratic Party meant abandoning Roh Moo-hyun. This devastated the Yeongnam region. Lee Jae-myung's choice during the 2007 presidential election process is well known."

He then criticized former leader Lee Nak-yeon, saying, "If Lee Nak-yeon had been born in Daegu, would he have really joined the Democratic Party? I always have such doubts whenever I see Lee Nak-yeon's political claims," and added, "He would hardly even be considered a legitimate heir."

Kim sharpened his remarks by saying, "To the pro-Roh and pro-Moon factions who lost Roh Moo-hyun and fell into great despair, Lee Nak-yeon rose rapidly with the image of having 'sternly' blocked opposition attacks on President Moon Jae-in in the National Assembly during his time as Prime Minister. If he had only been a governor, how could he be in his current position?"

Kim criticized, "The anti-Roh Moo-hyun actions taken by Lee Nak-yeon have already been addressed by Lee Jae-myung's side," and added, "So I hope you will stop now."

He questioned, "The true succession of Roh Moo-hyun is not about blood," and asked, "Is this the era of monarchies? The true succession of Roh Moo-hyun is about spirit. Who has truly inherited Roh Moo-hyun's spirit until now?"

Kim emphasized, "President Roh held onto a broken Democratic Party flag and boldly declared that he would inherit all the achievements and failures of the Kim Dae-jung administration even in Yeongnam," and said, "I, Kim Du-kwan, have never once avoided the difficult path. I have not abandoned comrades struggling alone in the harsh Yeongnam region."

He added, "The Roh Moo-hyun spirit I know is about overcoming regionalism and creating a world where local areas also prosper," and concluded, "A world where Seoul and the provinces coexist, so that people live well together! That is why I stand where I am now."
