Equipped with Metatron Grandview Technology for Indoor Remote Monitoring... Real-Time Tracking of Robot Operation Status
AI Serving Robot Delivers Food and Items Contactlessly in Hotels
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom announced on the 27th that it held a business partnership agreement ceremony on the 25th at the Daegu Inter-Burgo Hotel with Woori Robot, Koga Plex, Youngwoo DSP, and Balmi Inter-Burgo Hotel to commercialize AI serving robots based on artificial intelligence (AI) and indoor autonomous driving technology.
SK Telecom will equip Metatron Grandview technology for indoor remote control necessary for the commercialization of AI robots. Through this, it will play a role in helping the serving robots operate effectively indoors by monitoring the robots' operating status in real time. Additionally, by utilizing big data accumulated through Metatron, it will monitor the health status of the serving robots to enable proactive after-service (A/S) and support customer-tailored services through usage analysis.
Woori Robot is responsible for business planning and manufacturing of the serving robots, Koga Plex developed the AI indoor autonomous driving technology, Youngwoo DSP developed and mass-produced the electronic control system of the serving robots, and Balmi Inter-Burgo Hotel Group collaborated to optimize the serving robots for their hotels, including Inter-Burgo Hotel and Balmi Restaurant.
The AI serving robot “Servingo,” which will be commercialized at the Daegu Inter-Burgo Hotel, is expected to have about ten units roaming the hotel restaurant and lobby from August, delivering food and requested items ordered by customers. It will also serve as a mascot of the hotel by greeting customers at the main entrance and serving welcome drinks in the lobby.
SK Telecom has been in business discussions with Woori Robot since last year for the commercialization of AI serving robots, and plans to advance the technology by sequentially applying 5G networks, facial and body recognition technology through vision AI, and voice recognition technology.
Choi Nak-hoon, Head of SK Telecom Smart Factory CO (Company), said, “We hope hotel guests can safely use food delivery through AI serving robots,” and added, “In the future, we aim to advance the serving robots so that small business owners can also use them easily and conveniently, contributing to creating ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) value throughout society.”
