"Yoon Seok-yeol X-File: Neither Seen Nor Known"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Independent lawmaker Hong Jun-pyo stated on the 23rd that he "has never seen nor knows anything" about the Yoon Seok-yeol X-file. Lawmaker Hong also criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol for mentioning 'illegal surveillance.'
On the same day, through social media (SNS), Lawmaker Hong said, "I do not know on what basis Song Young-gil, the leader of the Democratic Party, assumed that I am well aware of the Yoon Seok-yeol X-file, but I have never seen nor know anything about the so-called Yoon Seok-yeol X-file."
He added, "However, it is truly regrettable that, according to media reports, the former Prosecutor General, a symbol of the law, is suspected of about 20 different personal and family corruption allegations," and said, "Public officials are always under surveillance. Even though I have been under surveillance for 36 years since I was a rookie prosecutor, I have never felt uncomfortable."
Lawmaker Hong said, "The Prosecutor General's duty is to conduct surveillance through the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Crime Information Division by constantly collecting crime information," and added, "As seen in the surveillance of judges, those who have always conducted surveillance trying to avoid verification by claiming illegal surveillance is not the right attitude."
He said, "Politics is a field where even things that do not exist are created, but can one avoid existing suspicions by claiming illegal surveillance?" and urged, "I hope he confronts the issue head-on and clears the public suspicions about himself and his family." He added, "Unlike in the past, nowadays it is a world inside a glass ball."
