[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 50s who approached a woman he met for the first time and demanded sexual intercourse, then assaulted her after being rejected, was arrested on the 20th.
The Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on the same day that they had obtained an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, Mr. A, who is suspected of assault, and are currently investigating.
Mr. A is accused of approaching a woman in her 20s, Ms. B, on a street in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, around 10:20 p.m. on the 18th, demanding sexual intercourse, and assaulting her multiple times with fists and feet after being refused.
The police responded to a report from a passerby and arrested Mr. A at the scene in flagrante delicto. The police plan to investigate Mr. A thoroughly to determine the exact motive behind the crime.
Recently, a man known as the "Daechi-dong Sexual Harassment Man," who caused anxiety among women by making sexual remarks while roaming the Daechi-dong area in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was also apprehended by the police and is under investigation. The Suseo Police Station in Seoul has booked Mr. C on charges including making sexually humiliating remarks to women on the street and is currently investigating him.
Earlier, posts claiming sexual harassment by Mr. C have been continuously posted on social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook since early this month. After receiving similar reports of victimization, the police tracked down and arrested Mr. C.
