[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in departed through Seoul Airport on the afternoon of the 11th to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit held in Cornwall, United Kingdom, from the 11th to the 13th (local time).

Taking this opportunity to attend the G7 Summit, President Moon plans to visit the UK from the 11th to the 13th, followed by state visits to Austria and Spain from the 13th to the 17th.

At Seoul Airport that day, Minister of the Interior and Safety Jeon Hae-cheol, Chief of Staff to the President Yoo Young-min, Simon Smith, British Ambassador to Korea, Gerald Gollatz, Charg? d'affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Korea, and Agustin Anguera, Charg? d'affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Korea, came to see President Moon and exchanged greetings.

When President Moon told Ambassador Smith, "Cornwall has beautiful scenery and is a place with a rich history," Ambassador Smith responded, "We are pleased that Korea is attending the G7 Summit," adding, "We expect this to be an opportunity for Korea to make a significant contribution to overcoming the crises the world is collectively experiencing."

Ambassador Gollatz of Austria said, "Next year marks the 130th anniversary of Korea-Austria diplomatic relations, making it a particularly honorable year," to which President Moon replied, "As this is my first visit to Austria as the President of Korea, I hope it will be an opportunity to develop bilateral relations."

President Moon told Charg? d'affaires Anguera of Spain, "I am grateful that King Felipe VI of Spain visited Korea in 2019, and I wanted to reciprocate the visit immediately, but due to COVID-19, I am visiting now." In response, Charg? d'affaires Anguera said, "King Felipe VI had a good impression of Korea during his visit and has high expectations for this state visit."

President Moon also urged Minister Jeon, "Please take good care of domestic issues."
