[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The group BTS has reaffirmed their powerful global influence by setting new world records with their new song "Butter."


On the 25th (local time), the Guinness World Records announced on their official website that "BTS broke five records on YouTube and Spotify with 'Butter.'"


According to the announcement, "Butter" set a new record for the "most viewed YouTube video premiere." This also led to a new record for the "most viewed YouTube music video premiere." Additionally, "Butter" set the record for the "most viewed YouTube music video within 24 hours," earning the title of "K-pop group with the most viewed YouTube music video within 24 hours." Furthermore, "Butter" also earned the title of "most streamed song on Spotify within the first 24 hours of release," officially registering a total of five world records.


The Guinness World Records stated, "BTS set an unparalleled number of records on Spotify," and added, "BTS's previous release 'Dynamite' held the number one spot on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart for 18 consecutive weeks, and 'Butter' may surpass this achievement."


"Butter" also dominated American radio broadcasts. On the 25th, the American entertainment media Variety reported, "'Butter' was played on all 180 Top 40 format radio stations in the United States that play the most popular pop songs," and noted, "BTS is the first foreign artist to achieve such a record with a new song."


Meanwhile, as of 9 a.m. on the 26th, "Butter" ranked number one on the iTunes "Top Song" charts in 101 countries and regions worldwide. On the latest U.S. Billboard chart (dated May 29), it entered the "Pop Airplay" chart at number 26, and on the latest Japanese Oricon charts (May 17?23), it topped both the "Weekly Digital Single Ranking" and the "Weekly Streaming Ranking," sparking a global sensation.
