Chonnam National University Opens Advanced Hybrid Library 'Jeongbamaru'


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chonnam National University has officially opened the state-of-the-art hybrid library, ‘Jeongbo Maru’.


According to Chonnam National University on the 14th, on the 11th, an opening ceremony for the third library, ‘Jeongbo Maru,’ was held with the attendance of President Jeong Seong-taek, Chairman of the Council Kim Do-hyeong, President of the Alumni Association Jo Seong-hee, and Chairman of the Supporters’ Association Heo Jeong, followed by a tour of the internal facilities.


Jeongbo Maru houses over 80,000 volumes of literature and arts & physical education materials, and is composed of spaces such as the Creative Park for materials, a study lounge, a multimedia zone capable of production and editing, a themed book collection, and BB Park for exhibitions.


Additionally, it has been developed as a convergence library where learning and culture coexist, with personal carrels, group study rooms, presentation rooms, and other individual reading and learning support spaces.


The building covers a total floor area of 10,498 square meters across four floors, and the project costs for internal space configuration and management operation system establishment were covered by sponsorship funds through the nation’s first digital library supporters’ association and financial support projects.


President Jeong Seong-taek stated, “Jeongbo Maru will fulfill its role as a knowledge information center that creates new value in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution,” adding, “It will become a proud and dignified cradle for Chonnam National University members, serving as the center of education and research in the advanced digital information age.”
