[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Bentley Motors unveiled the 2022 Flying Spur on the 13th, maximizing interior comfort by minimizing noise and vibration.

Bentley Motors explained that the new Flying Spur applied virtual prototyping technology to reduce noise and vibration, thereby enhancing interior comfort.

Virtual prototyping technology is a method that reduces resources and time throughout the process from vehicle body design to production and testing, increasing sustainability. In particular, it allows noise and vibration tests to be conducted before the actual vehicle production, enabling preemptive responses to vibrations generated from the body, noise from tires, and noise entering the interior. Additionally, through a weight optimization program, 40 parts were rearranged while simultaneously placing soundproofing materials.

Basic specifications have also been enhanced. The City Specification, which includes an air ionizer that improves indoor air quality, hands-free trunk opening, expanded safety features, a top-view camera, welcome lights, and auto-dimming mirrors, is equipped as a standard feature.

The exterior color options available as standard have increased to 63, including Cambrian Grey. Inside, a satin-finished 0.1mm thick open-pore wood veneer is also offered. Crown Cut Walnut, Dark Burr Walnut, and Koa veneers can all be selected with an open-pore finish.

Simon Noble, Bentley Motors’ acoustic engineer, said, "Through virtual prototyping, we have been able to virtually optimize all parts of the Flying Spur before actual vehicle production. At the same time, we have been able to create a quiet interior environment for our customers while reducing the physical prototype production process." He added, "We have applied virtual prototyping from the early stages of vehicle production to design and engineering, saving tremendous physical resources and time throughout all testing processes."

The standard specifications applied to the newly unveiled 2022 Flying Spur have mostly been applied as standard to the existing 2021 Flying Spur Korean Spec introduced domestically. Advanced technologies such as virtual prototyping are also expected to be applied to the upcoming 2022 Korean model.
