[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Seoyoung] The father of university student Son Jeongmin (22), who was found dead after going missing at Seoul Hangang Park, expressed bewilderment over the CCTV footage discovered during the investigation into his son's cause of death.
On the 7th, the police announced that they had secured footage showing the family of Son's friend A disposing of shoes, and are currently verifying the facts based on this. It is known that the police have heard statements from A's father regarding the disposal of A's shoes.
Previously, A and A's family reportedly told Son's father that "Son got up and ran but fell down. During the process of helping him up, his clothes and shoes got very dirty with mud." In response, Son's father asked A's father to show the shoes, but was told "the shoes were thrown away," according to his claim.
However, in an interview with YTN, Son's father expressed, "I saw the news that CCTV footage was secured. It was different from what I had heard, so I was taken aback." He also explained, "The person who threw away the shoes was not that person. The statements and the footage do not match."
Meanwhile, Son, who lost contact near the water taxi dock at Banpo Hangang Park on the 25th of last month, was found dead by a private rescuer on the 30th. Son was reportedly a first-year medical student at a private university in Seoul, which has caused great sorrow.
