The "2021 DMZ Concert," organized by the Gyeonggi Arts Center and hosted by Gyeonggi Province, is scheduled to be live-streamed online without an audience from 7 PM on the 22nd.
This event is part of the Let’s DMZ Peace Arts Festival
The DMZ Concert was planned to share the meanings of conflict and division inherent in the DMZ through music, reflecting on the true space and significance of peace. Through a concert communicating with artists in a non-face-to-face manner, it intends to spread hope for peace and send warm comfort to people worldwide exhausted by COVID-19. To provide an experience where people around the world can connect and communicate in real time through music beyond South Korea, the performance will be live-streamed online.
This concert covers a wide range of genres including Eastern and Western classical music, Korean traditional music (Gugak), and popular music (K-POP) under the theme "Again, Peace." From the opening (Arirang of Hope), Part 1 (Now, Here, Us), Part 2 (Gathering Our Hearts), Part 3 (Let’s Sing Peace Again), to the ending (Light of the Future), the organically connected segments will offer a space to empathize with the meaning of the DMZ transforming into a peace space embracing the world by dreaming of the future where past and present meet, and the message of peace and harmony.
Wonil, the artistic director leading the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, will direct the performance.
The project orchestra "DMZ Peace Orchestra," formed by the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra and Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, along with top-tier domestic artists including "Lee Jinsang (pianist)," "Kang Gwansoon (sori)," "NCT DREAM," "YB," "BewhY," "ELRIS," "Jambinai," "Lee Hi," "La Poem," "Dongyang Gojuppa," and "Akdan Kwangchil," will present a diverse stage delivering the wish for peace through K-POP, orchestral performances, and choir.
The "2021 DMZ Concert" can be viewed via online live streaming on May 22 (Saturday) at 7 PM on the Gyeonggi Arts Center’s YouTube channel "Kkyak!TV," and will also be broadcast as a special program on KBS 1TV on May 29 (Saturday) at 11:40 PM.
