[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] LH unveiled the site of the ‘Public Jeonse Housing’ supplied for the first time this year in relation to the government’s ‘Support Plan for Housing Stability for Low-income and Middle-class Families (Jeonse Measures)’ announced last year on the 14th.


The public jeonse housing introduced by LH on this day was located in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is a newly constructed officetel (14 floors above ground, 52 units) completed in December last year, purchased in March this year, and currently recruiting tenants. Move-in is scheduled to begin in June.


The exclusive area ranges from 54 to 83㎡, and the deposit is supplied as jeonse housing at a level of 180 million to 250 million KRW, which is cheaper than the market price. All units have three or more rooms. Reflecting the latest housing trends, it is also noteworthy that high-quality materials, built-in options (such as system air conditioners and induction cooktops), and underground parking are provided.


Near the housing, Line 1 Anyang Station and Myeonghak Station, Line 4 Beomgye Station, and the Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway are located, providing high transportation convenience. There are also advantages in easy access to shopping facilities such as E-Mart and Anyang Ilbanga, medical facilities, and government offices.


‘Public Jeonse Housing’ refers to housing that public housing providers purchase newly constructed multi-family, multi-household, and officetel buildings with large areas and pleasant living environments in urban areas and temporarily supply them to middle-class households. This year, a total of 9,000 units will be supplied sequentially, including 3,000 units in Seoul and 3,500 units in Gyeonggi and Incheon, and 9,000 units will be supplied again next year.


Tenants are selected from non-homeowners without separate income or asset criteria. Households with three or more members are given first priority, and other households are given second priority. Selected tenants can live for up to six years at 80-90% of the market jeonse deposit.

Jang Chung-mo, Acting President of LH, said, "The public jeonse housing supplied for the first time this time will become a model of high-quality public rental housing based on spacious floor plans and specialized facilities," adding, "LH plans to quickly supply quality housing throughout the metropolitan area urban centers to faithfully implement government policies and stabilize the jeonse market."
