Dong-A TV CEO Park Ran and Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation CEO Lee Hee-beom signed a business agreement and established a mutual cooperation system.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Dong-A TV announced on the 13th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Hanbok Promotion Agency, an institution under the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation, establishing a mutual cooperation system to revitalize traditional textiles, clothing, and the fashion industry.
Through this agreement, Dong-A TV plans to take the lead in popularizing traditional culture centered on Hanbok by leveraging the channel's expertise. The agency's main activities will be turned into broadcast content, and Dong-A TV will also develop traditional culture introductions, live broadcasts, Hanbok fashion show planning, and other cultural industries.
The Korea Hanbok Promotion Agency was established to revive the Hanbok cultural industry and create a hub for Hanbok culture. In particular, the Sangju Hamchang area, where the agency is located, is the largest domestic production area of fine silk essential to Hanbok, aiming to promote Hanbok culture based on the region's environmental factors.
At the opening ceremony on the 17th, a global fashion show organized by designer Park Sul-nyeo will be held, and Dong-A TV will produce and broadcast the program.
With support from Gyeongbuk Province and Sangju City, the agency plans to carry out incubation for traditional businesses and support projects to revitalize the traditional clothing industry.
Park Ran, CEO of Dong-A TV, said, "With growing interest in Korean culture overseas, especially centered on K-pop, we feel a responsibility to raise public interest in our traditional culture," adding, "As a lifestyle channel, we will take the lead in enhancing national interest in Hanbok."
Meanwhile, Dong-A TV, which launched as the country's first women's channel, transformed into a women's lifestyle channel in 2015, producing and broadcasting various programs covering fashion, trends, beauty, sports, and overall lifestyle.
