Baemin to Launch 'Single-Item Delivery' Service Starting June

In Response to Coupang Eats' Pursuit, One Delivery Worker Handles One Order

Baemin to Launch 'Single-Item Delivery' Service Starting June

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] As the number of users of Coupang Eats, which promotes 'single-order delivery' where one delivery rider handles one order, is rapidly increasing, Baedal Minjok (Baemin) has also decided to implement 'single-order delivery' to maintain its market position.

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 12th through the homepage for store owners, 'Baemin Sajangnim Square,' that the single-order delivery service 'Baemin1' will be launched in June. The plan is to start in some areas of Seoul and gradually expand. The existing 'Baemin Riders' service will be transitioned to Baemin1.

Baemin explained, "As customers' expectations for positive delivery experiences increase, the demand for 'single-order delivery' service, which allows customers to receive food the fastest after pickup, is growing, and the need for a new delivery service that can respond to this is also increasing among store owners," adding, "We are introducing a new service, Baemin1 (one), which is based on single-order delivery."

According to Baemin, Baemin1 is a service that provides everything from order to delivery, allowing stores to be exposed and receive orders in a separate area from the Baemin category list, and offers single-order delivery that goes directly to the customer immediately after pickup.

Woowa Brothers plans to temporarily change the brokerage fee charged to franchisees from 12% per order to a fixed rate of 1,000 KRW per order, and reduce the delivery fee per order from 6,000 KRW to 5,000 KRW to promote the use of this service.
