Collaboration Promotion with Yeoju Police Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Following the implementation of the 'Immediate Separation System' on the 30th of last month, which allows for the immediate separation of children suspected of abuse to prevent serious incidents, practical consultations were held between Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province, and the Yeoju Police Station.
According to Yeoju City on the 12th, on the 8th, they adjusted the key roles among child abuse response personnel at each stage of work to prevent overlapping or delays in investigations by local governments and the police, and resolved agenda items such as information sharing and night/holiday work systems.
Additionally, child abuse dedicated police officers (APO) and related organizations such as child protection agencies will also participate in case meetings that were previously conducted independently by the city.
Previously, in October of last year, the 'Child Welfare Act' was amended to transfer child abuse investigation duties from child protection dedicated agencies to local governments.
Park Eun-young, head of the Women and Family Division, stated, "As social interest in child abuse has increased due to recent child abuse cases, we will promote public responsibility for integrated case management from investigation of child abuse to the independence of children after protection ends."
