[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 7th that Minister Hwang Hee held a meeting to discuss various policy opinions with cultural city officials regarding the achievements of the cultural city projects and plans for the continuous development of cultural cities. The meeting was held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul.
Ten people attended the meeting, including members of the Cultural City Deliberation Committee, cultural city policy experts, local cultural activists, and officials from cultural city centers.
The cultural city creation project is a program that comprehensively supports budgets so that regions can autonomously plan and realize urban cultural environments. The Ministry designated the first seven cultural cities in December 2019 and designated five more in January, supporting a total of 12 cities.
Minister Hwang stated, “We will continue to listen to diverse opinions from field officials and carefully reflect them in policies to support cultural city projects tailored to the characteristics of each region.”
