[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Parking solution 'ParkingCloud iParking' announced on the 22nd that it has attracted an investment of 25 billion KRW from NHN Chairman Lee Junho and History Venture Investment, among others. This is the first new investment in three years since SK Networks in 2018, bringing the total accumulated investment to 113.5 billion KRW.
Chairman Lee, who invested 12 billion KRW in 2017 together with Korea Investment & Securities and IBK Capital, made an additional investment, demonstrating confidence in the steady growth of the unmanned parking business model. ParkingCloud announced that it has achieved a cumulative parking volume of 650 million vehicles and a daily parking volume of 1 million vehicles.
Since introducing its AI unmanned parking control system in 2015, the company has been expanding the iParking zones, leveraging the trend toward contactless services. It has established 3,650 AI unmanned parking lots in domestic skyscrapers such as Lotte World Tower and Haeundae LCT, as well as landmarks including E-Mart, KT, Kyobo Tower, Yeouido IFC, and Yeongdeungpo Times Square.
ParkingCloud has introduced AI machine learning LPR (License Plate Recognition) and connected iParking zones nationwide through the cloud. The headquarters' integrated control center remotely resolves on-site issues in real time and provides free regular software updates to continuously improve vehicle license plate recognition rates.
In particular, recognized for its advancement of ICT technology in parking spaces, the company signed a partnership with Hyundai Motor Company last year and supports parking information and payment services embedded in CarPay (an in-vehicle simple payment system).
A representative from ParkingCloud said, "We will accelerate the realization of a 'Smart Mobility Hub' where all mobility in the world gathers at parking lots to create various added values such as car washing, maintenance, sharing, and charging."
