According to the police on the 7th, around noon on the 6th, a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, and her four-year-old daughter, Ms. B, were found dead inside a car parked near a reservoir road in Jijeong-myeon, Wonju City.
The police found the vehicle carrying the mother and daughter near the reservoir while searching after receiving a report from the family that they had left home and did not return.
At the time, Ms. A was found in the driver's seat and Ms. B in the passenger seat, but both had already passed away.
Two small gas heaters were found in the back seat of the vehicle, one of which was completely burned out.
The family of the mother and daughter stated that Ms. A usually took Ms. B for drives in the car when she had trouble falling asleep.
The police believe the possibility of a crime is low, as there were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle from outside.
The police are investigating all possibilities, including that Ms. A fell asleep while putting Ms. B to sleep in the car with a small gas heater on, causing suffocation, or an extreme choice, and plan to determine the cause of death through an autopsy.
