Introducing the 'Seoul National University of Science and Technology Academy Program' Based on Cloud One-Team Collaboration
Utilizing 'KT Cloud' for 4-Year Practical Education in the Department of Artificial Intelligence to Train AI Experts
Expecting to Foster Cloud-Based Technology Experts by Enhancing Commercial Cloud Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 5th that it has established the ‘SeoulTech Academy Program’ in collaboration with Seoul National University of Science and Technology to expand cloud research and technology exchanges. This program was planned as part of the ‘Cloud One Team,’ an industry-academia-research consortium aimed at enhancing domestic cloud competitiveness.
Through this collaboration, a formal course utilizing KT Cloud will be launched for 60 freshmen of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications at SeoulTech. The Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications, which admitted students for the first time this year, plans to provide foundational AI major education and advanced training to acquire AI technologies and expertise that can be integrated with various industries.
KT Cloud will be used throughout the four-year curriculum of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications at SeoulTech, covering both basic and advanced practical classes. Practical education based on KT Cloud will be conducted from foundational major courses such as ‘Programming Languages’ and ‘Probability and Statistics’ to advanced major courses like ‘AI Service Development’ and ‘Co-op Projects.’ Students will move beyond the traditional single PC-based practice environment to gain experience with commercial cloud platforms, becoming experts in cloud-based convergence technologies.
KT will provide not only the necessary cloud infrastructure for the curriculum but also special technical lectures to help utilize it. Additionally, SeoulTech is considering expanding the use of KT Cloud infrastructure to practical education in other majors, starting with the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications.
Lee Mi-hee, Senior Vice President of KT Cloud & DX Business Division, said, “We hope that through collaborations like the SeoulTech Academy Program based on the Cloud One Team, faculty, students, and researchers at universities and research institutes can freely utilize cloud infrastructure, thereby enhancing South Korea’s cloud competitiveness. KT will lead South Korea’s digital transformation through active industry-academia-research cooperation centered on the Cloud One Team.”
Choi Byung-wook, Dean of the College of Creative Convergence at SeoulTech, stated, “We expect that by applying KT’s top-tier cloud solutions in actual undergraduate courses, we will be able to nurture talented individuals for the upcoming cloud-based AI era.”
The Cloud One Team was launched in November last year with the goal of fostering the domestic cloud industry ecosystem and strengthening competitiveness. The number of participating institutions and companies, which was 17 at launch, has been steadily increasing. On the 26th of last month, Altibase, Roam IT, Bizplay, and others joined, bringing the total to 26 companies and institutions currently participating.
The consortium operates through ▲ECO Win-Win Support Group ▲Industry Innovation Division ▲Solution Innovation Division ▲R&D Innovation Division. SeoulTech participates in the R&D Innovation Division, focusing on conducting R&D projects and promoting cloud technology exchange and dissemination.
