Acting Mayor Seo Jeong-hyeop and Israeli Deputy Health Minister Attend... Vaccine Experts from Both Countries Engage in In-Depth Video Discussion
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] As the 'COVID-19 vaccination journey' is in full swing, Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold the 'Seoul-Israel COVID-19 Vaccination Online Conference' with Israel, a leading country in vaccination, on the afternoon of the 3rd at the large conference room on the 3rd floor of Seoul City Hall.
This conference is an opportunity to hear the vivid situation and vaccination know-how from Israel, which has completed vaccination for half of its population about two months after the start of vaccination and is preparing to return to normal life faster than any other country in the world, and to share Seoul's S-quarantine and the ‘333 Measures’. An in-depth discussion for safe and efficient vaccination will also be held.
The conference will be attended via video by Seo Jeong-hyeop, Acting Mayor of Seoul, and Yoav Kisch, Deputy Minister of Health who oversees Israel's vaccination along with Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Infectious disease experts from both countries, including Ran D. Balicer, Professor of Infectious Diseases at Ben-Gurion University, and Lee Jae-gap, Professor at Hallym University, as well as Park Yu-mi, Quarantine Control Officer of Seoul Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, will also participate.
This conference was realized when the Embassy of Israel in Korea, while Seoul was investigating Israel's vaccination cases, proposed a place for quarantine authorities to directly share cases.
Seoul plans to actively seek applicable measures for Seoul's vaccination plan by listening to realistic and practical advice from Israel, a leading country in vaccination, and discussing the entire process from vaccination to post-management from various angles. The conference will proceed in the order of ?Sharing Israel's vaccination cases ?Sharing Seoul's COVID-19 quarantine and ‘333 Measures’ for vaccination ?In-depth discussion for deeper deliberation.
A Seoul city official explained, "This conference will be an opportunity to resolve various citizens' questions such as how much the COVID-19 positive rate has decreased after vaccination, how long COVID-19 antibodies last, and when herd immunity can be achieved."
Seo Jeong-hyeop, Acting Mayor of Seoul, said, “All Seoul citizens hold hope for returning to daily life, but on the other hand, there are also fears and concerns about the uncharted path. Through this conference, Seoul will listen to Israel's practical advice on the entire process from vaccination to post-management and will proceed with COVID-19 vaccination steadily and safely.”
