Comprehensive Information on 'District Unit Plans' Including Maintenance Projects, Redevelopment Promotion Zones, and Yeoksekwon Youth Housing
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that starting from the 2nd, it will expand the online viewing service for ‘District Unit Plans’ across the entire city of Seoul, allowing users to access information anytime with just a click or touch on a computer or smartphone.
The service, which was piloted last year in 13 autonomous districts, has now been expanded to 25 districts. The 12 newly added districts are Gangdong, Gangbuk, Gangseo, Gwangjin, Guro, Geumcheon, Nowon, Dobong, Dongdaemun, Seodaemun, Songpa, and Jungnang. Users can now easily and quickly view the ‘District Unit Plans’ for a total of 552 zones (109㎢) across these 25 districts.
The service includes all zones and related information concerning district unit plans, such as redevelopment and reconstruction project areas like reorganization promotion districts, as well as sites for youth housing projects near subway stations.
The ‘District Unit Plan’ is an urban management plan that specifies building uses, floor area ratios, building coverage ratios, heights, and other regulations for key sites such as areas near subway stations and redevelopment/reconstruction zones. Since 2019, the city has digitized the ‘District Unit Plan’ information into a database, compiling approximately 110,000 documents including texts and drawings, completing the online viewing service for the entire city of Seoul in just over two years.
By entering the desired address on the map within the Seoul Urban Planning Portal, users can move to the corresponding parcel with a single click and check detailed information about the ‘District Unit Plan.’ Related official notices, reports, drawings, and guidelines can also be downloaded immediately. The online viewing service is web-based and requires no additional installation. It is accessible on both PC and mobile devices without the need for membership registration.
Hong Seon-gi, Director of the Urban Management Division of Seoul City, said, “We have finally made the vast urban planning information of the District Unit Plan, which applies to 30% of Seoul’s urbanized area excluding green spaces and parks, publicly available online after over two years of digitization.” He added, “The computerized District Unit Plan information is expected to be utilized not only in urban planning-related work but also in various fields such as real estate transactions, building permits, and related research.”
