[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongju City announced on the 1st that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) worth 28.1 billion KRW with Hyundai M-Sheet Co., Ltd. on the 25th of last month.

With this MOU, Hyundai M-Sheet will establish a 32,489㎡ future-oriented eco-friendly seat parts manufacturing facility in the Gyeongju Munsan 2 General Industrial Complex by next year.

Hyundai M-Sheet, a subsidiary of Hyundai Transys that produces automobile seats installed in models such as the Grandeur and Sonata, has annual sales of approximately 400 billion KRW. The new factory will introduce a smart factory system to produce future-oriented eco-friendly seat parts for electric and autonomous vehicles.

Kim Ho-jin, Deputy Mayor of Gyeongju City, stated, "Gyeongju City will do its best to create a business-friendly city with jobs by working together with related companies in preparation for the future eco-friendly automobile era."

Meanwhile, Gyeongju City plans to focus on creating a 'Future-Oriented Advanced Automobile Material Parts Innovation Cluster' based on Hyundai M-Sheet's investment.

Starting with the advanced vehicle material molding processing center to be newly built this year, the city will sequentially establish a carbon material parts recycling center, a next-generation future automobile BMS center, and a proton ion beam-based R&D integrated support center from next year.
