Gwangjin-gu Supports Enrollment Preparation Funds for Middle and High School Entrants

Support of 300,000 KRW per New Middle and High School Student in Gu Area for 4,977 Students... Easing Economic Burden on New Students' Families and Realizing Universal Welfare

Gwangjin-gu Supports Enrollment Preparation Funds for Middle and High School Entrants

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will provide entrance preparation funds for new students entering middle and high schools this year.

Entrance preparation funds are a policy that supports a certain amount of money so that necessary items for school entrance can be purchased autonomously. This initiative was launched for the first time this year to alleviate the economic burden on new students' families and to realize universal educational welfare.

The support targets a total of 4,977 new students, including 2,403 new students entering middle schools located in Gwangjin-gu and 2,574 new students entering high schools.

The support amount is 300,000 KRW per person. The support procedure is that when a student applies for the entrance support fund at each school, the school collectively purchases Zero Pay points and then allocates them to parents or students.

The scope of use for the entrance preparation funds must be for purchasing items necessary for new students' school entrance, such as uniforms, gym clothes, and tablet PCs needed for online classes. However, if a student purchases uniforms through the school using the entrance preparation funds, the uniform purchase amount is automatically deducted, and any remaining balance is provided as Zero Pay points.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “We have decided to provide entrance support funds together with Seoul City and the Office of Education to reduce the economic burden on families of new students starting their studies at a new school,” adding, “We will continue to prepare various educational policies so that growing students can freely develop their dreams and talents.”
