Responding to Local Issues... Establishing an Organic Cooperation System with Provincial Assembly Members

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 25th, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, held a policy meeting to explain major local pending projects requiring cooperation and to secure provincial budget at the county office video conference room, attended by County Governor Park Woo-ryang, Jeollanam-do Council members from the region including Jeong Gwang-ho, Chair of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Committee, Kim Moon-su, member of the Planning and Administration Committee, and county senior officials, the county announced on the 26th.
At the meeting, discussions were held on 30 pending projects including the construction of a bypass road between Aphae Sinjang and Bokryong, support projects for Shinan-gun’s multi-functional complex pier, budget support for the construction of an island waste purification transport ship, and provincial government support for losses from the quasi-public ferry operation on Gageodo.
In particular, the county discussed countermeasures through cooperation with the provincial council for adjusting the financial burden ratio between the province and the county on national subsidy projects, expanding urban projects, and selecting new projects.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “In difficult times, the role of provincial council members is increasingly important to respond to the growing scale of local pending demands, so we arranged this policy meeting,” and added, “We will continue to regularize policy meetings to establish an organic cooperation system, and ask department heads to directly collaborate with council members on projects to draw out provincial cooperation and support.”
Council member Jeong Gwang-ho emphasized the importance of timing, saying, “For pending projects requiring cooperation, it is important to share project explanations and justifications in a timely manner.”
Following this, Council member Kim Moon-su promised to build a cooperative system, stating, “I will do my best to find ways to resolve local pending issues, visit each department of the provincial office to explain the necessity of projects, and actively cooperate to secure the budget.”
