LG Uplus to Exclusively Release Cho Seongjin's 'Mozart Week' on IPTV and Mobile LG Uplus announced on the 26th that it will exclusively release the performance content of the "Mozart Week" held in Salzburg, Austria, on its IPTV service 'U+tv' and mobile media platform 'U+Mobiletv' in South Korea. [Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] LG Uplus is strengthening its presence in the performance content sector. It aims to provide entertainment for customers who find cultural activities difficult and to reinforce the spirit of coexistence with the arts community. Last year, LG Uplus's usage rate of performance video-on-demand (VOD) nearly tripled compared to the previous year.

LG Uplus announced on the 26th that it will exclusively release the 'Mozart Week' performance content held in Salzburg, Austria, on its IPTV service 'U+tv' and mobile media platform 'U+Mobiletv' in South Korea. This performance will feature the world premiere of 'Allegro in D Major,' composed by Mozart during his childhood.

Mozart Week is a performance hosted annually since 1956 by the Salzburg Mozart Society to commemorate Mozart's life. This year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the event will be held online from January 27 to 31, Mozart's birthday.

This year's Mozart Week will showcase the world premiere of Allegro in D Major, presumed to have been composed by Mozart at the age of 17 in 1774. This 94-second short piano piece, which had remained unpublished for 230 years after Mozart's death, evokes a dance-like atmosphere. The performer is pianist Seong-Jin Cho.

Seong-Jin Cho expressed, "It is an honor to premiere this piece in Salzburg, where Mozart was born. This is my first time participating in Mozart Week, and I am delighted that many people will be able to listen to such a beautiful work."

LG Uplus will also offer nine other performances from Mozart Week for free. Customers can enjoy ▲Four Hand Piano performances by Daniel Barenboim and Martha Argerich ▲the opening concert featuring world-renowned tenor Rolando Villaz?n ▲and concerts themed around letters between Mozart and his sister, among others.

This performance content will be available for free for one year starting from the 27th in the documentary and culture menu on U+tv and U+Mobiletv. On the 29th, the audio will also be released by 'Deutsche Grammophon,' the most prestigious classical music label in Europe.

Jung Daeyoon, Head of Media Partnership at LG Uplus, said, "Performance VOD usage increased threefold in 2020 compared to 2019, showing strong customer response. Therefore, we have prepared for the first-ever online Mozart Week performance this year to be easily accessible on TV and mobile. We hope this performance, like a gift from Salzburg, will comfort customers weary from COVID-19."

Meanwhile, LG Uplus has continuously provided various entertainment options to help customers maintain cultural and artistic activities at home despite the COVID-19 situation. Notable exclusive performance contents introduced last year include ▲the 100th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival, ▲the 17th Jarasum Jazz Festival, and ▲Daehangno Live, totaling about 150 performances. Additionally, more than 370 premium performance contents such as classical music, opera, theater, and musicals are offered free of charge to U+tv and U+Mobiletv subscribers.
