14 Violations of the Animal Protection Act in 2020, 2.8 Million Won in Fines Imposed

The city announced on the 25th that complaints about non-compliance with the Animal Protection Act (such as unregistered pets and not wearing leashes) have surged due to the increase in pet-owning households.
Currently, there are 14,238 registered pets in Yangsan City, and the number continues to rise.
Last year, there were 14 cases of fines imposed for violations of the Animal Protection Act, all of which were due to failure to comply with safety measures when going out with pets.
In addition, there are more than 500 annual complaints related to noise and failure to clean up pet waste, causing inconvenience in daily life.
Accordingly, the city will actively promote compliance with the Animal Protection Act and pet etiquette for one month starting in March.
The campaign will take place in neighborhood parks, riverside walking trails, and apartments where complaints are frequent, and after the promotion period ends, intensive crackdowns will begin in April.
A city official said, “We ask for the active cooperation of citizens so that everyone follows pet etiquette to prevent safety accidents caused by pets and to create a city where both pet owners and non-pet owners can live together harmoniously.”
