[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Although the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea is showing a declining trend, new cases continued to be reported across the country on the 24th.
According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the day, 250 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were identified nationwide. This is 59 fewer than the 309 cases recorded during the same time period the previous day.
By region, 161 cases (64.4%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 89 cases (35.6%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 88, Gyeonggi 61, Busan 19, Gyeongbuk 15, Incheon 12, Daegu 11, Chungnam 9, Gyeongnam 8, Gwangju, Daejeon, and Chungbuk 6 each, Gangwon 4, Ulsan and Jeju 2 each, and Jeonnam 1.
Among the 17 cities and provinces, no confirmed cases have yet been reported in Sejong and Jeonbuk.
Looking at the recent trend of confirmed cases, the number of cases on this day is expected to reach around 300.
