[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] From the night of the 17th to the early morning of the 18th, stronger snow than on the 6th and 12th is expected to fall.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced that due to the influence of a pressure trough passing through the north on the 17th, the entire country will gradually become cloudy, and around 3 PM, snow will begin to fall in the western Seoul metropolitan area including Seoul and the Chungnam West Coast, expanding gradually inland after 6 PM.
From the early morning to the morning of the 18th, heavy snow is expected to concentrate in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, Chungcheong region, Jeonbuk, northern Jeonnam region, Gyeongbuk region, and the inland western part of Gyeongnam.
The expected snowfall amounts are 5 to 10 cm (with some areas exceeding 15 cm) on the 17th in eastern Gyeonggi, Gangwon Province (excluding the East Coast), and northern Chungbuk, and 2 to 7 cm on the 18th in the Seoul metropolitan area (excluding eastern Gyeonggi), Chungnam region, inland Jeonbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk (excluding the East Coast).
The KMA issued a preliminary heavy snow advisory at 11 AM for the entire Seoul area, the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeonbuk, and parts of Gyeongsang, and the advisory is expected to be upgraded to a heavy snow warning later.
The KMA explained that strong snow concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area and Yeongseo region of Gangwon during Monday morning rush hour may cause traffic congestion, so thorough preparation in advance is necessary.
