[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Daehan Green Power, an eco-friendly renewable energy specialist company, is participating in the largest domestic ultra-large wind turbine testing project in Yeonggwang-gun jointly with its parent company Daehan Green Energy.

On the 2nd, Daehan Green Power announced that its parent company Daehan Green Energy is participating in the ultra-large wind power demonstration infrastructure construction project hosted by Jeonnam Technopark and the Korea Energy Agency.

This project aims to expand the function of the existing Yeonggwang Wind System Testbed, which is currently established and operated in the Hasa-ri area of Baeksu-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, to create infrastructure for testing, evaluation, and demonstration of ultra-large wind turbines (two units of 8MW class, one unit of 5MW class, etc.). A total project cost of 26 billion KRW will be invested by December 2020, with participation from Jeonnam Province, Yeonggwang-gun, Mokpo National University, and Daehan Green Energy.

Daehan Green Energy has already completed the construction and development of Yeonggwang Baeksu Wind Power (40MW) and Yeonggwang Wind Power Generation (79MW) within the energy cluster established by Yeonggwang-gun, and on the 18th of last month, completed the largest domestic solar power plant, Yeonggwang Gwangbaek Solar Power Plant (99MW).

Daehan Green Energy, the nation's top renewable energy development specialist developer, is the largest developer leading the development and operation of renewable energy power complexes being established in Yeonggwang-gun. The 300MW-class Yeonggwang Duuri Offshore Wind Power Project, currently under construction in the shared water area of Yeomsan-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun, is also being developed under the leadership of Daehan Green Energy and Daehan Green Power.

Daehan Green Power invested 16 billion KRW in May and October in the Yeonggwang Duuri Offshore Wind Power Project and is jointly promoting the offshore wind power project with Daehan Green Energy.

Park Geunsik, CEO of Daehan Green Power, said, "Daehan Green Energy has already secured development rights for about 10 power plant projects including Yeonggwang Duuri Offshore Wind Power, Ganggu Wind Power, Gangdong Wind Power, Seungju Wind Power, and Yeosu Samsan Offshore Wind Power." He added, "Daehan Green Energy will be responsible for the development and construction of these power projects, while Daehan Green Power will handle power plant operation and maintenance." He continued, "Since we have secured numerous development rights for renewable energy power plant projects planned for development in Korea, we expect to witness rapid growth in renewable energy business promotion by Daehan Green Energy and Daehan Green Power in the future."
