President Moon appoints Kim Yong-hyun, former Boston Consul General, as new Blue House Foreign Policy Secretary Kim Yong-hyun, the new Foreign Policy Secretary at the Blue House

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] President Moon Jae-in appointed Kim Yong-hyun, former Consul General in Boston (55, photo), as the new Foreign Policy Secretary on the 27th, White House spokesperson Kang Min-seok announced.


The new Foreign Policy Secretary Kim graduated from Daeryun High School in Daegu and Seoul National University with a degree in Diplomacy. He passed the 24th Foreign Service Examination and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He subsequently served as First Secretary at the Embassy in China, Director of the Korea-US Security Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' North American Affairs Bureau, Chief of the Arbil Liaison Office (Consul General), Consul at the New York Consulate General, Director of the Peace Diplomacy Planning Division at the Ministry's Korean Peninsula Peace Negotiation Headquarters, and served as Consul General in Boston from late 2017.
