Ha Tae-kyung, "We Must Prepare for the Biden Era"... "Bipartisan Diplomatic Visit to the US Needed"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] Rep. Ha Tae-kyung of the People Power Party stated that Joe Biden's victory in the U.S. presidential election is becoming certain and urged, "Let's dispatch a delegation of lawmakers to the U.S. to welcome the Biden era."

On the 7th, Rep. Ha wrote on his Facebook, "With the trend solidifying, we must thoroughly prepare for the Biden era."

He said, "The National Assembly should engage in bipartisan diplomacy toward the U.S.," adding, "Previously, Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also proposed sending a delegation to the U.S. regardless of the election outcome."

He then urged both ruling and opposition parties, "I propose that a bipartisan delegation centered on the Foreign Affairs and Security Committees be promptly organized and sent to Washington."

Rep. Ha emphasized that despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation, cooperation between South Korea and the U.S. is more important than ever, stating, "Cooperation between the two countries is necessary to protect South Korea's national interests and peace on the Korean Peninsula."

He continued, "Since Biden's approach to North Korea diplomacy is unfamiliar compared to President Donald Trump, South Korea's mediating role will inevitably grow."

Finally, he added, "By dispatching a bipartisan delegation, we should seize this opportunity to ensure that denuclearization and peace are established on the Korean Peninsula without any security vacuum."
