[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is hosting an international hydrogen forum. Hydrogen has recently emerged as a core energy source in the government's Green New Deal policy.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it will hold the '2020 Gyeonggi International Hydrogen Forum' on the 5th to strengthen private international cooperation and build networks for economic revitalization. This is the first international hydrogen forum hosted by the province.
In accordance with social distancing measures, the forum will be held online using a non-face-to-face platform.

Under the theme "Hydrogen Economy, Thinking About the Future," the forum will feature about 40 panelists including central government and local government officials, domestic and international academia, hydrogen technology experts, businesspeople, and the general public, who will share diverse perspectives on hydrogen and discuss ways to expand the hydrogen energy ecosystem in Gyeonggi Province.
Um Jin-seop, Director of the Provincial Environment Bureau, stated, "Gyeonggi Province is the largest demand area for the hydrogen economy and has a high concentration of hydrogen-related fields, making it the most promising region for hydrogen industry activation. Based on the production infrastructure within the province, we will do our best to ensure that Gyeonggi's hydrogen industry leads South Korea's hydrogen economy."
The province plans to hold the hydrogen forum annually.
