[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, visited the funeral hall of Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, on the 26th to pay his respects.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong arrived at the funeral hall at Samsung Medical Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where Chairman Lee Kun-hee's wake was held, around 7 p.m. that day.
Meeting with reporters, Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "The deceased led the way in entrepreneurship and innovative management in Korea's economic development," adding, "Above all, he achieved corporate success by early implementing a global top-tier strategy."
He continued, "I believe the corporate management strategies and achievements that the deceased pursued during his lifetime will serve as a great stepping stone for Korea's economy to leap forward as a global top-tier leading nation," expressing his condolences by saying, "Once again, I pray for the peaceful rest of the deceased."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong also had a brief conversation with Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, regarding the recent economic situation.
