Jointly Held at Geumnyeonsan Youth Training Center on October 24
On October 24, teenagers participating in the 'SW Experience Classroom' hosted by Dongmyeong University at Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center in Busan are attending a lecture.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop) SW-Centered University Project Group (Director Jo Mi-kyung) conducted the '2020 Youth SW Experience Classroom' on October 24 at Busan Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center for 45 elementary and middle school students (grades 4 to 9) in the Busan area as part of the SW value dissemination program.
This SW Experience Classroom, the second session following last year, was co-hosted with Busan Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center. Participation was completely free, and applications were accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center website.
After overall safety education on the day, three courses were conducted in rotation over six hours by class groups: ▲ understanding principles and controlling using assembled drones, ▲ understanding programming principles and controlling using balancing robots, and ▲ learning principles through 3D printing. Certificates of completion were also issued according to the education.
The purpose of the education is to share the value of software with the local community, increase students' interest and understanding of software, and allow them to become more familiar with software by directly experiencing balancing robots and drones.
The second session of the 2020 Youth SW Experience Classroom will be held in November to allow more students to participate. Applications are accepted online through the Geumryeonsan Youth Training Center, and participation is free.
Jo Mi-kyung, Director of the SW-Centered University Project Group at Dongmyung University, said, “I hope this will be an opportunity for many students to easily access software and gain interest,” adding, “We will continue to provide opportunities to enhance SW competitiveness through various software education and experiences.”
