Seongbuk-gu, Preemptive Disinfection Measures Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

Customized Special Quarantine, Flawless Quarantine System... Normal Operation of Screening Clinics, Uninterrupted Medical Services Implemented

Seongbuk-gu, Preemptive Disinfection Measures Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held a special COVID-19 quarantine measures meeting during the Chuseok holiday period on the 28th to check the progress of the quarantine management measures and ensure their smooth implementation.

Although the trend of confirmed cases in the metropolitan area has been decreasing recently, infections are still occurring throughout Seongbuk-gu. Considering that COVID-19 spread nationwide during the two holiday periods in May and August this year, Seongbuk-gu plans to recommend minimizing travel such as hometown visits regardless of patient occurrence and social distancing levels, and to spend the holiday at home with family.

To maintain a flawless quarantine system, Seongbuk-gu will conduct intensive inspections of vulnerable facilities such as religious facilities and indoor sports facilities. In cooperation with local residents including the Saemaul Leaders' Council in each neighborhood, the district will continue special and voluntary quarantine activities during the holiday period to block any quarantine gaps.

Additionally, preemptive inspections and management will be focused on high-risk facilities and multi-use facilities where family and relatives' visits are expected during the holiday period to ensure compliance with quarantine rules.

For managing incoming overseas students, the district has established an emergency contact network with universities, operates the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, and runs an emergency response system for monitoring self-quarantined individuals, maintaining a seamless management system during the Chuseok holiday period as usual.

Furthermore, to provide uninterrupted medical services, the district has established and operates an emergency response system including screening clinics, infectious disease dedicated hospitals, and emergency rooms, minimizing medical service gaps and inconvenience to residents. In cases where medical services are inevitably needed during the holiday, information will be promoted to be accessible via the internet and phone.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Through this measures meeting, we will do our best to manage the situation stably so that the Chuseok holiday period does not become a turning point for the re-spread of COVID-19, protecting the health and safety of 450,000 residents. We also ask all residents to actively participate in social distancing during the Chuseok holiday for themselves, their families, and neighbors.”
