"No Revival of Japan Without Northeast Revival"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Yoshihide Suga, the Prime Minister of Japan, visited Fukushima Prefecture as his first local destination after taking office.
According to local reports on the 26th, Prime Minister Suga visited Fukushima Prefecture that day to inspect the decommissioning site of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, where the accident occurred during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as the nuclear disaster memorial hall.
At the revitalization promotion meeting held at the official residence the previous day, Prime Minister Suga stated, "There is no revival of Japan without the revival of Tohoku (the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, including Fukushima Prefecture)," and emphasized the need to carry on this policy and promote revitalization more strongly.
