"I'm speechless and stunned if this is really the President of the Republic of Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 25th regarding North Korea's shooting incident involving a missing public official from Yeonpyeong Island, “President Moon Jae-in must disclose the truth of this situation to the public in full detail without hiding even the smallest bit,” adding, “He should explain what happened during the three days down to the second.”
At a breakfast meeting with party-affiliated city and provincial governors held at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Kim said, “This killing incident may seem similar to the past Park Wang-ja case, but upon closer examination, it is a completely different type of incident,” and added, “We will mobilize all party resources to uncover the truth.”
Chairman Kim pointed out, “This was not an accidental shooting by a border guard but a planned murder carried out under orders from higher-ups. This time, the government had the time to save the victim,” and criticized, “The incident was disclosed and a statement was made belatedly on the 24th, three days after the occurrence, which suggests that something is being hidden from the public.”
He further stated, “President Moon did not issue a rescue order even after receiving the report. The president, who holds the constitutional duty to protect the lives and safety of the people, is only mentioning declarations of the end of the war and cooperative peace,” and expressed, “While the people are engulfed in anger and sorrow, seeing him leisurely enjoying an a cappella performance makes me question whether he is truly the president of the Republic of Korea; it leaves me speechless.”
Chairman Kim concluded, “(President Moon) should apologize to the people for his incompetence and irresponsibility,” and said, “We should no longer criticize with words alone; since this is a clear violation of international law, diplomatic actions must be taken so that North Korea bears heavy responsibility.”
